 WHAT IS HCIT ?

Healthcare Information Technology (HCIT) is the 'means' to an 'end' that is  Healthcare Informatics. Healthcare Informatics is the use of Information technology to ultimately support improvement in the quality of healthcare. There is a not so subtle difference between Healthcare Information Technology and Healthcare Informatics

Health IT is health care information technology - the use of computer applications to record, store, protect, retrieve, and transfer clinical, administrative, and financial information electronically within health care settings. The ultimate goal of Healthcare Informatics however, is to improve the quality and efficiency of patient care by the use, amongst others, HCIT.
